As of Friday November 7th, Greece has implemented it’s second national lockdown. Greek authorities have stated it will last 3 weeks, ending on November 30th. While we are saddened at the prospect of stopping our operations again, the wellbeing of the young people we teach, our staff, volunteers, and the general public as a whole, is paramount to us. We want to respond to this situation in a careful and considered way, gathering advice and seeking guidance from various informed people and outlets. For now, our sessions are cancelled, and we will push forward with administrational tasks and fundraising whilst waiting to see how the situation unfolds.
We have plans in the works for a very special collaboration in December, so stay on the lookout on our Instagram page for the details to come soon!
We encourage our young skaters to stay active at home, whether it be on a balcony, their driveway, or the pavement (with an SMS or the written form of course!) and to show us via our Instagram how they are using their time creatively at home!
In case you haven’t heard…
Stricter regulations in place – As of Friday 7th of November, Greece has implemented much tighter restrictions on social interactions and movements outside of the house. For at least the period until November 30th, people can go out for the following reasons:
  1. Going to a pharmacy or a doctor’s visit
  2. Going to a supermarket
  3. Going to a public service or bank
  4. Helping people in need, or accompanying children to school
  5. Going to a funeral ceremony
  6. Walking a pet, or personal exercise. Personal exercise is allowed with one other person.
Everyone needs to have their ID / passport on them, with either a written form or by sending an SMS to 13033 with the number corresponding to the reason before they leave the house. People who are still working must have a special form signed by their employer. Wearing a mask is obligatory both indoors and outdoors, and beginning Friday November 13 there will be a curfew from 9:00 pm to. 5:00 pm. More specific information can be found on https://forma.gov.gr/.

We urge everyone to follow the current regulations, continue practicing social distancing and frequent hand washing, and most importantly to look after themselves and their loved ones. We look forward to skating together once it is safe again!
